Welcome to the Cottage Hill Preschool
The Preschool is on the campus of Cottage Hill Elementary located in room 22. The 4year old class is in attendance on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:15 am to 11:15 am. Starting this year should your child be enrolled in the 4yr class you will have the opportunity for your child to stay until 2 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and 1 pm on Fridays thru the Extended Learning Opportunity Program (Documents for this program can be found on the PRSD website Or Cottage Hill website under the Special Programs Tab, then click the After School Rec tab and scroll to the bottom to find your needed forms for your child to stay full day.

The 3year old class is in attendance on Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:15 am-11:15 am. We ask that preschool students get dropped off and picked up from the back gate of the school campus to ensure parents may park and walk their child to and from the classroom as you will need to sign your child in. Each class provides your child with the opportunity for social & emotional development as well as school readiness preparation. The classes are designed to meet the needs of children individually and as a whole unit. Activities and curriculum are the age and developmental stage appropriate for each class.
*Preschool Enrollment --The preschool enrollment paperwork contains all of the documents that need to be filled out for your child to enroll. Please bring all documents in addition to shot records and a birth certificate to the front office. (Found in the drop-down menu on the right)
*Preschool Handbook--The preschool handbook answers all sorts of questions regarding pick up, drop off, clothes, payments, etc. (Found in the drop-down menu on the right)
*Preschool Calendar--Our preschool calendar is divided into 3 different 12-week sessions with 1-2 week breaks between each session. (Found in the drop-down menu on the right)
About the Teacher:
My Name is Andrea Mertens and I am the Preschool Director/Teacher for the Cottage Hill Preschool program. I started teaching when the doors to preschool opened in 2014 this will be our 9th year teaching at Cottage Hill Elementary. My family and I returned to the area where my husband grew up so that our 2 sons could experience the joy this community has to offer its families. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Chico State in 2001 with a BA in Liberal Studies and a minor in Child Psychology and Physical Education. I also received AA degrees in Social Behavioral Sciences and Liberal Studies along the way. Throughout the years I have added various additional Early Childhood educational training to my list including Zoo-phonics, Handwriting Without Tears, 2nd Step Social and Emotional training as well as Education thru Music and Brain Gym. Most recently I attended the Soar to Success Summit for Early Child Education. While being an educator has always been in my heart I chose to wait to start my career until my children and family were established. I love the joy of learning and the passion that each and every child brings with them as they discover through learning about the world around them.
