Computer Lab Open Now!

Our computer lab is now open after school from 2:00 to 3:00, Monday through Thursday.  This time is reserved for students working on homework projects, needing help with tech lessons, or doing AR tests.  Unless students have a specific tech question, they are working independently during this time.

Blanket Drive!

Beginning next week, Cottage Hill will be supporting a Blanket Drive, collecting new or gently used blankets (including baby blankets) for Right Hand Homeless Shelter and KARE Crisis Nursery.  Blankets may be dropped off in the office during the month of September.  The blanket drive is being organized by Kayla Toft as a leadership project at Bear River High School.  We thank you in advance for your donations!

2016-17 District Calendar

For your "planning pleasure", here is the PRSD District Calendar for the 16-17 School year.  This calendar can also be found on our website.  The website also has the Parent Calendar, which lists all the events that are taking place at Cottage Hill, including Friday early release days (1:05) and minimum days (12:00).  As new events are scheduled, they will be added to the calendar, so please check back weekly!

GRADE LEVEL SUPPLY LISTrev6_16

As you are getting ready for school to begin again, there is a list of recommended supplies that you may want to take a look at.  Each grade level has created a list of the items that would be helpful for students to bring to school with them.  This is a recommendation and not a requirement; students who do not bring their own supplies will be provided with whatever they need.  This list is also on our school website.

Art Ware Fundraiser Coming Soon!

We are pleased to announce that our students will once again be creating original works of art for Mother's/Father's Day gifts or as personal gifts for family and friends!  Through the Original Works program, each child will have the opportunity to have their very own artwork reproduced onto a variety of hight quality products.  The products range from magnets, mugs, and mouse pads to ceramic tiles, T-shirts, note cards and nearly two dozen other items.

Every child from preschool to grade five is participating!  Once the artwork is created, parents and children will have the opportunity to select which product or products they would like to feature their artwork.  The program is designed to encourage creativity and student self-esteem.  The resulting products make unique gifts that are practical for any season or occasion.

Complete details of the program will be sent home soon.  All proceeds from the program will be used to support Art at our school.  For more information on Original Works please visit their website at www.originalworks.com

5th Graders are using the Arts Attack curriculum to create pictures that appear to be three dimensional using oil pastels.  The Arts Attack program is a wonderful art curriculum that teaches sequential art techniques and skills.  Art is part of the fifth grade "rotations" so Mrs. Bollen teaches art to all three classes.
This representation of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Eiffel Tower were created by fifth grade students using the 3D pen...  This is an example of how our students are integrating art and engineering in their STEAM rotations!

2016-17 Calendar

The 2016-17 Calendar has been approved by the school board.  This calendar shows all the minimum days, no school days, and holidays so that you can plan your family calendar for next year.  You can find this calendar on the district website and the school website; it will also be sent home with all students. Thanks!

Young at Art

The "Young at Art" exhibition is being held at the Nevada County Eric Rood Government Center from February 29 - May 19.  This event is hosted by Nevada County Arts Council, and is a wonderful opportunity for K-12 students to display their original works of art!  Check with your child's teacher to see if their classroom has contributed artwork to the exhibition!

Message From Central Kitchen...

Hello Nevada County families! March 17th is a Thursday, but not just any Thursday...It's California Thursday. That means our Child Nutrition Services Team will be serving up California food for California kids! We are proud to be offering our students a Strawberry Spinach Walnut Salad to complement their school meal. Sierra Harvest’s Farm to School Liaisons will be on hand to dole out taste tests of this popular lunch item and speak with our students and staff about the CA Thursday program and how it’s changing the future of school food in Nevada County. We hope to greet your student at lunch on Thursday March 17th! Don’t hesitate to contact the Child Nutrition Services Team ([email protected]) or Sierra Harvest ([email protected]) if you have any questions.

PTC Meeting Date Change...

PTC Meetings (Board and General) will be moving to the SECOND Wednesday of each month beginning in April and continuing to the rest of the year.  The meetings will still be in room 17, as before.  Join us and be part of the planning for next year!
