Fall Family Fun Night needs CANDY! Cottage Hill Elementary School's safe trick-or-treating happens with the generous candy donations of our families. Starting Monday October 15th, please send in sealed candy to your students classroom. The class that contributes the most pounds of candy will win a pizza party for their class. We thank you in advance for making this another great Fall Family Fun Night on October 19th from 5:30-8:00pm at Cottage Hill Elementary School.
********SPECIAL MEETING TIME*******
Next Wednesday the regularly scheduled PTC meeting will start at 10:00am to accommodate the minimum day schedule for parent/teacher conferences. We have so much to celebrate and discuss: Jog-A-Thon, Fall Family Fun Night, OriginalWorks fundraiser, Mistletoe Mall, and more! Please meet with us on Wednesday, October 10th at 10:00am in Room 17.
The KCRA Kids Can Food Drive has begun!
Please send non-perishable items (boxes, cans, bags of rice or beans) to school between now and November 9th. They will be collected in the classroom, and donated in time for the holidays. All food collected will go to help families in our community!
Halloween is coming!! We will be having our Halloween Parade on October 31st at 8:30 AM. If it is raining, we will parade in the halls. Students may wear their costumes to school on this day. Please keep in mind the following rules regarding costumes so that everyone has a safe and fun day!
Face Paint is definitley OK, and so are hats! Masks of any kind are not allowed, even masks that cover just a part of the face.
Please do not send children to school in costumes that are bloody or overly scary; we want all our students, Littles and Bigs, to enjoy the day. Save those other costumes for home.
Props are fine, but not weapons. So, wands, brooms, spatulas, or microphones are all good. Swords, spears, light sabers, or guns are not.
Fall Family Fun Night is Friday, October 19th. Students are encouraged to wear their costumes that night, but not to school that day.
Yesterday the students at the "Root for the Home Team" root beer float party. There was music, friendship and lots of excitement! The PTC would like to thank Auburn Smart and Final and LOP Holiday Market for their generous donations of ice cream and root beer. Again, the money saved goes right back to the kids!
The Jog-A-Thon Top Lap Runners and their teachers enjoyed a taco lunch in the garden yesterday. Tomorrow the "Root for the Home Team" root beer float party will take place in room 18 during students' lunch period (11:00 for preschool and T-K students). If your child has lost their ticket, do not worry, we have a master list!
We had our first fire drill this morning, and the students did GREAT! When the fire alarm sounds, all students, staff, and parents exit the building and walk to a designated area. The office staff has to account for every person on campus, including parent volunteers and Magnolia Helpers, which is why it is so important for everyone to sign in and sign out. In the case of a real emergency, anyone unaccounted for would be reported to law enforcement/fire officials as missing and a search would be initiated. Once we have everyone checked in, the "all clear" bell sounds and everyone returns to class.
