Kindergarten TK Round Up is tomorrow, March 20th!  Please come to the MPR at 6:30 to hear a short presentation, pick up your registration packet, and sign up for an assessment time (on Wednesday).
Yee Haw!  It's time for Kindergarten Round Up!

Who should come?  Parents (not kids) of children entering TK or Kindergarten in August.

How do I know what to enroll for?  If your child turns 5 by September 1, 2018, he/she will enroll in Kindergarten.  If your child turns 5 AFTER September 1 but before December 1, he/she will enroll in TK.  If your child turns 5 AFTER December 1st, he/she will enroll in preschool in April.

Why should I come?  You will get all the information you need to enroll your child that night, including a registration packet.  You will also sign up for your child's assessment time, which will be the following day.  You will have a chance to ask any questions you may have about our school/programs.

The Kindergarten and TK teachers will be there, and so will members of the Cottage Hill Parent Teacher Club (PTC).

If you have friends or neighbors who are not registered on our school web site, please pass this information along!
Come One, Come All!

We invite you to attend the PTC meeting tomorrow in Room 17 at 12:30 to show your interest in becoming part of the PTC Board.  All positions are available!  There are also many open committee chair positions.  The school relies on the energy of parents just like you; YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The Cottage Hill PTC provides experiences and equipment that enrich the lives of our students.  Pictured above are first graders using touch screen Chrome Books that were purchased this year with Jogathon proceeds.  Our school would just not be the same without YOUR ENERGY!

We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible tomorrow!

Hello parents,

It’s time for the second box tops competition of the year! Flyers have already gone out to the teachers to remind the kids to turn in all of the box tops they’ve been saving since the last round.

Each box top is worth ten cents so bring them in! The money earned per class goes right back to that class. So if 500 box tops are brought in then $50 will be given to that teacher for the classroom. Whichever class gets the most tops will also win a special treat provided by myself and checked with the teacher for classroom allergies.

When turning in tops to your teachers, please turn in ONLY box tops and not Labels for Education. I throw those out since we don’t have a liaison for them. Also, it would be a HUGE help if you sent them in already trimmed down to the dotted lines and throw away all of the expired ones. It takes hours to go through them so please trim and discard if possible. It also helps me save on shipping.

I think that’s everything! Please turn in all of those tops by this Thursday so that I can sort and get them all turned in on time. Let’s help these awesome teachers get some funds!

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Audrey Hahn

Also, if you have any pictures you would like to share with us for the yearbook they can be uploaded to Lifetouch under the specific category ie: Jog a thon, Assemblies etc.  Go to community.lifetouch.com and enter our school code BWMCWN to access the photo uploads.
Snow Day?  Snow days are usually called when there is ice on the road in Alta Sierra and the buses can't make their routes safely.  If buses can't travel in Alta Sierra, PRSD calls a snow day for the whole district (even if roads are clear surrounding Cottage Hill).  If we have a snow day, you will receive a phone call from the district office in the morning.  If you have your email listed in power school, you will also receive an email.  Snow Days are also posted on the school/district websites.

There are times that NU cancels school due to ice in Grass Valley and Bear River has to close, even though PRSD is remaining open.  Please check your voice mail and/or the school websites to determine if PRSD is declaring a snow day.  Thank you!

Academic Talent Search 2018

Academic Talent Search offers 4-9th graders exciting summer courses to choose from at Sacramento State University in subjects like LEGO Robotics, Video Game Development, Neuropsychology, and All the World's a Stage (depending on qualifications).

To join these interactive and hands-on classes, you need to take the ATS Qualifying Exam.  The test only takes an hour and there is no pass or fail, so no need to stress!  Your score determines what classes you are qualified to sign up for.  Taking the test does not mean you MUST sign up for classes.

The test will be given at Cottage Hill during school hours in early February.  There is no cost to take the test, but parents must sign a permission slip.  Permission slips and additional information are available in the office.  The deadline for turning in the permission slip is February 2nd.
Greetings from the Cottage Hill Parent Teacher Club!

There is excitement buzzing in the air, and so much success to report from our January meeting, a few highlights were:

*$10,000.00 from the fall Jog-A-Thon event was allocated to buy Chrome Books.  They are to be ordered ASAP.
*Mistletoe Mall and the Giving Tree were more successful than we ever hoped for; approximately 15 families here at Cottage Hill were recipients of gifts.

While we still have five meetings left in this school year, we are beginning to look towards planning for next year.

Jog-a-Thon, Fall Family Fun Night and Mistletoe Mall committees will begin meeting to brainstorm themes, activities and fun very soon.  These committees all have chairpersons who are organizing the event at this time (something in itself to celebrate), however we are looking for parents who may be able to lend a helping hand with planning and/or helping out the day of the event.  How much time are we talking about?  Good question, approximately 3-5 hours of time leading up to the event for planning meetings and 3 hours on the day of the event.  That’s right, less time than binge watching the first season of Downton Abbey on Netflix.

Also, elections are just around the corner and all board member positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) will be open and available for new persons to run.  All current board members will remain in the PTC general membership and will be available to assist new board members with questions and “shadowing/training.”

If you enjoy watching your Cottage Hill Cub(s) laugh, smile and play, come and join us, be a part of the fun.  Our meetings are on the second Wednesday of every month at 12:30pm in Room 17.  The next meeting will take place on Valentine’s Day!!!
Happy New Year!

Monday, January 8th is a Professional Development Day for teachers.  There is no school for students.  We will see everyone back on Tuesday, January 9th!
