Clothing Drive

Cottage Hill PTC is teaming up with California Clothing Recyclers to raise funds in an environmentally friendly way. All items will be sent to developing countries to be re-used or recycled. IT'S EASY!!!

STEP #1: Please clean out your closets and donate the following items: gently used clothing, shoes, linens, towels, hats, belts, purses and stuffed animals.

STEP #2: From November 1 to November 30th please bring items in neatly tied plastic bags to Room 17.  Bins will be available outside the door.

STEP #3: TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!! We will have a special community drop off event on Saturday November 18th at Cottage Hill Elementary.

For further information, please call Sara @ 530-830-2150

Picture Retake Day is November 15th!  If you missed the first Picture Day please send your child with the order envelope (coming home this Thursday) and money.  If you need the pictures retaken, please send the old pictures to school with your child.  It would be very helpful if you would email your child's teacher, alerting her that your child needs to be sent down for pictures, and whether or not there are old pictures being sent back.  Thank you!
The Kids Can Food Drive is now in full swing!  We are collecting canned/boxed food as part of the KCRA Food Drive.  All food collected goes to help families in our community!  Please consider sending in canned/boxed items such as soup, nuts, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, cereals, pasta sauce and pasta.  Food is being collected in each classroom now through Thanksgiving Break.  Thank you for your support!

Fall Family Fun Night and Halloween Parade!

This Friday is Fall Family Fun Night here at school!  Families may trick or treat at classroom doors and participate in other fun activities.  This is a FREE event for our families.  The festivities go from 6:00-8:00, and children (and adults!) are encouraged to wear costumes!

On Halloween day Cottage Hill will hold its annual Halloween Parade on the playground at 8:30.  Students may wear costumes to school that day.  We invite parents to come and watch!  Costumes should be "school appropriate"; please leave all masks and weapons at home.  Hats, face paint, and other props are welcome!

Earthquake Drill

Today our students and staff practiced how they would respond in the event of an Earthquake.  There is no "alarm" for an earthquake, we just feel that it is happening and respond the way we have practiced (I just announced it today).  Students get under a desk or table, protecting their heads.  Teachers open doors and do the same.  If outside, students move away from buildings or any structures that might fall down.  Following a real earthquake, the fire alarm would sound so that everyone would leave the classroom while emergency personnel checked to make sure the rooms were safe.  Ask your child how the drill went today, and consider having a conversation about what your family would do if there were an earthquake at home!

Box Tops Competition is Here!

Hi there parents!

This is just a quick e-mail to let you know about the Box Tops Competition going on in your children’s classrooms. The kids are turning in all of their box tops now so that the money earned from them (.10 a top) goes straight back to their classroom. So if 500 tops are brought in then that teacher will get a $50 check to do with whatever they like in the classroom. Along with that, the class that brings the most box tops in will get a special treat provided by me. I will be contacting the winning teacher to find out about specific allergies in the classroom so if you haven’t told them of any then please do so!

Each year our school earns around $2000 so that is a lot of money brought in just by turning in bits of cardboard, paper and plastic. :)

When you send in the tops, please be sure to cut them out on the dotted line (or have your kiddo do it!) so that I can quickly organize them and send them in.

We are collecting now all the way to the last day before fall break starts. So make sure to get them all in by Friday, October 13th. I will be coming by each class to pick them up, organize them, and then send them out the next week. I will let teacher’s know which is the winning class and how much everyone brought in within that week or two.

Parents, thank you so much for helping raise funds for this awesome school and the hardworking teachers there! Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Audrey Hahn

Book Fair Volunteers Needed!

Hello families!

We are currently gearing up for book fair! This is a fun and exciting fundraiser for our students. This the only fundraiser we do to fund the Cottage Hill Library. The hard work that we put into it allows us to purchase new books and helps us to restock supplies. We are successful each year because of YOU! Our fall book fair will be from October 23rd - 27th. I will post more information as the time nears, but for now, volunteers will be needed.

I am attaching a link to our volunteer sign ups. Please sign up for what you can. Your assistance is very appreciated.

Jogathon Money

Please be sure to turn in your Jog Money on Wednesday to be eligible for prizes!  Money can be turned in after Wednesday, but won't be counted toward the prize packages.  We hope to see as many parents as possible here on Friday for the Jogathon, cheering on our Pirate Cubs!
