Power of Positive Parenting Class 2017

The Triple P parenting class is returning to Cottage Hill this Fall!  Parents who attended last year said this class provided them with practical strategies for solving parenting problems at home, and improved their interactions with their children when it came time to address behavior.  Classes are weekly from 6-8; childcare is provided on site.  Check the flyer for more information!

Class Assignment Night!

This is it! The "Big Reveal"! Come to school beginning at 4:00 on August 14th to find out which class your child will be in. Take some time to locate the room, check out the teacher poster on the door, and then attend the PARTY!

Cottage Hill PTC will be hosting an ice cream social, including ice cream (of course), Otter Pops, and cotton candy. Games will be available, and our fabulous PTC moms and dads will be here to welcome you! Take a minute to join the PTC and never miss an event! PTC is made up of parents, just like you, who want to make their child's school experience the best that it can be.

Class lists will be posted on the office windows beginning at 4:00 that evening.

Class lists will be posted on the office windows for all classes. Preschool, TK, and Kindergarten students will receive a Welcome Letter, informing you of your child's teacher, room number, and when Parent Orientation will be held.

Last Day of After School Computer Lab

This Thursday is the LAST DAY the computer lab will be open after school.  Rec students will remain in rec for homework to the end of the year.  Any students who go to computer lab after school that are not in rec will need to go home on the bus or be picked up after school.  Thank you!

PTC Fundraising Celebrations!

Hello All!  As we bring this year to a close, I wanted to thank the Parents' Club and all our parents for their fundraising projects this year!  As a result of everyone's hard work, this week PTC was able to order 6 more picnic tables for the courtyard and 20 Chrome Books for our classrooms!  This is very exciting, and our teachers and students are extremely grateful!

Yearbooks

Yearbooks are still available!  If you did not pre-order a yearbook, you can still get one in the office for $25 (cash only) while they last!  Yearbooks will be distributed during the last week of school.

Summer Library Program at Cottage Hill

Please join us every Wednesday in the library for stories and crafts!  The Cottage Hill Library will be open from 3pm-7pm beginning June 21st and ending July 26th.

Calendar for Next Year is Approved!

The school calendar for next year was approved by the Board Tuesday night.  You can access the new calendar by going to the Cottage Hill website and clicking on the Calendar title; a PDF version of the calendar will pop up.  Please check the dates for first day of school, October break, and holidays.  Thanks!

Sunny Weather!

With the sunny weather now here (thank goodness!), keep in mind that your child may need sun screen to prevent a sun burn.  We can't apply it here, so we suggest you put it on them before they leave home in the morning.  It is also important to remember that our school dress code does not allow racer back, or backless tops.  Wearing sleeves that cover the shoulders is another good way to avoid sun burn!

5th Grade Picnic Planning Meeting

ATTENTION 5TH GRADE PARENTS:  The 5th Grade Picnic is scheduled for June 7 and it is time to start planning for this big event!  Please come to a planning meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at 8:10 in the Garden Area.  This event is planned and executed by the 5th grade parents, so we need everyone's help!  Thank you for helping to make this a memorable day for your child!

It's Not Too Late! Open House Starts at 6:30!

Tonight is Open House, and your whole family is invited to come see the wonderful work your child has been doing!  Don't miss the Art Show in the MPR, and grab a hot dog meal for $5 (hot dog, drink, chips, cookie) in the courtyard.  See you there!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Hello Parents!  Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1-5.  Our PTC has some wonderful events planned to show our teachers some LOVE!
Tuesday, May 2: Bring your teacher a flower for a class bouquet
Friday, May 5: Bring in your completed "All About My Teacher" questionnaire (this will be sent home on Thursday, May 4).

The PTC is hosting a Fiesta Luncheon for the teachers on Thursday, May 4th.  If you would like to sign up to provide a dish, here is the link:

Thanks for supporting our teachers as they support your children!

Countdown to Open House! First Grade Reading Fair!

Open House is only one week away: Thursday April 27th!  Classrooms will be open from 6:30-7:30.  Bring your whole family to see the great work your children have been doing!  The Book Fair will be open all week, including the night of Open House.

That morning is the First Grade Reading Fair from 8:30-10:30; first grade parents are invited to join us in the MPR for this special event.

Summer Learning Program Deadline!

Friday, April 21 is the deadline for signing up for the Adventures in Learning Summer Learning Program at Cottage Hill this summer.  This is a FREE summer program lasting 18 days.  It includes morning snack and lunch.  The program uses staff from the Sierra Streams Institute to teach about local watershed projects.  You can pick up an application in the office.  This is an outstanding opportunity to keep your child busy and prevent the traditional "summer slide" of skills regression!
