Free Summer Learning Program K-5

Adventures in Learning, the FREE summer learning program run by the county and held at Cottage Hill, is now accepting referrals.  AIL is an 18 day program from June 10-July 20 (no camp July 3-4) that provides hands on activities and experiential learning opportunities in reading/literature, math, and science.  It is designed to prevent the "summer slide", or the loss of skills over the summer vacation.  The program runs Monday through Friday 8:30-1:30 and includes a morning snack and a healthy lunch.   If you are interested in this program, please stop by the office to pick up a referral.

Bear River High School’s vocal ensembles, Jazz Unlimited and Starlite Express, will host a show choir and vocal jazz festival entitled “Fantasy of Stars” this Friday, March 3 and Saturday, March 4.  This special performance will be in the Bruin Community Performing Arts Theater at Bear River High School, 11130 Magnolia Road, Grass Valley. This show marks the 26th year of this production!

Fantasy of Stars showcases BRHS's "Starlite Express" show choir and jazz band, presenting their set entitled "Centuries" featuring the music of the Doris Day, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, NSync, and No Doubt (just to name a few).   In addition to the show choir, "Jazz Unlimited" will also be on-hand to sing a bit of what they've been groovin' to this year.

This musical extravaganza will also feature several specialty solo acts along with the Magnolia Intermediate "Starmakers" show choir.  The talented performers from Enterprise High School's "Starship" in Redding, will again hit the BRHS stage with a high energy performance along with "TBA" jazz choir.  This year we are excited to also present Pacific Vocal Jazz from the University of the Pacific in Stockton.

There will be three exciting performances in the Bruin Community Performing Arts Theater: Friday, March 3th at 7PMSaturday, March 4th at 2PM and 7PM.

Tickets are available at Bear River's student store, at the theater door or at Forever Yours Florist (located next to Holiday Market). General Admission Seating is $10/adults or $7/students & seniors.
