Academic Talent Search information/applications will be available in the front office on Tuesday.  ATS is a test given to fourth and fifth graders interested in qualifying for summer enrichment classes at Sacramento State.  All students who take the test qualify for basic level classes.  The higher the test score, the more opportunities are available.  There is a fee associated with the classes, but the test is offered free.  Cottage Hill students who have turned in their application will be tested on Tuesday, February 26th in the school conference room.
Tomorrow is the last day to submit your design for the temporary tattoo!  Turn your drawing in to your teacher before school is out...  Classes will vote on their favorite to submit to the finals!
The next PTC meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 13th at 12:30pm in Room 17.  Come and share your love for Cottage Hill Elementary school students and staff.  Topics to be covered at this meeting include: Board member nominations, mid-year surplus money purchase, and much more!  Please join us!
Next weekend, on Sat. February 23rd, from 5:00-9:00pm, the Magnolia Intermediate School spring fundraiser will take place at Moonraker Brewing Co. in Auburn.  Admission is FREE and a portion of all food and beverages will go to the school(wear and show the fundraiser wristband, acquire on site).  “Bella Familia” food truck will be there to satisfy your pizza cravings after a rousing game of cornhole.  Bring your friends and a few board games to have a friendly competition at your table, the possibilities of fun are endless.

Kindness Assembly

Today our 2nd-5th grade students attended an excellent assembly on Kindness with NED.  Ned taught us that different is nothing to be afraid of; different can be COOL, and everyone can spread Kindness with a simple smile.

Ned visited Kenya and learned that children in Kenya are a lot like we are in many ways, but there are also some important differences.  For example, kids in Kenya do not have easy access to clean water.  As an act of Kindness, we are selling African Treasures, handmade by people in Kenya.  A portion of funds from the sales go to build wells in Kenya.

Miss Hioki will be selling the Treasures out of Room 19 before school and during recesses.  A flyer went home last week, or you can review the information on the attached file.  If you are looking for more information on the program, go to KindnessAdventure.com

Thank you!
As parents we are always wondering about our children’s future.  Their school experience is no exception.  We have an opportunity to affect our students’ future school experience by attending the Magnolia Intermediate School PTM’s annual fundraiser.  It will be held at Moonraker Brewing Co. in Auburn on February 23rd from 5pm-9pm. Admission to the event is FREE!  That night, grab a wristband and a percentage of your food and beverage purchases will go to Magnolia PTM to be delegated to programs such as:
Supplies and equipment for core classes (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, P.E.) and our elective classes (athletics, theatrical arts, music, technology/robotics, woodworking, career choices, Spanish).
There will also be an AMAZING SILENT AUCTION with baskets upon baskets of themed gifts.  Please mark your calendars for Sat. Feb. 23rd, and bring your friends to get a glimpse of the camaraderie and fun that happens up at Magnolia School.
Kindergarten/TK Round Up is Coming Soon(ish)!

All incoming TK and Kindergarten parents are invited to attend Round Up, a parent meeting on Tuesday, March 19th in the MPR at 6:30.  At this meeting you will not only hear about our TK and K programs, but you will pick up registration materials necessary for enrolling in either program.

That night, the K parents will sign up for an appointment for their child to meet with a Kindergarten teacher to check on basic skills needed for a successful start to the school year.  The appointments will be the following day, Wednesday.  TK students do not need an appointment.

Please mark your calendars for this important night!
The teacher/staff appreciation SOUPer Luncheon was a super success!

PTC would like to thank all who graciously signed up and brought in all the delicious soups, salads, desserts and other items, as well as Panera's generous contributions to the event.

It's because of you this event was such a success and enjoyed by all the teachers and staff.  Thanks for sharing the Cub Love!
Hello Families!  Just a quick reminder that school starts at 7:55...  even on rainy days...

Please allow a few extra minutes to get to school in the morning so that students are in class on time and we don't have a dangerous traffic situation in the parking lot.  The Magnolia Circle IS OPEN TO US in the mornings (you can ignore the 'bus only' sign prior to 8:30) and older students can be dropped off there so you can avoid the traffic in the back parking lot.

If you are running late, please do not use the back parking lot.  The back gate is closed/locked at 8:00 so dropping off in front will make it easier to stop in the office to get a tardy slip.

The worst traffic is at 7:55 when parents are coming in late and tensions are elevated...  please drive safely!  Most traffic can be avoided by adjusting your schedule and arriving earlier.
